We are an academic-community partnership working together to understand the long-term health outcomes of exposure to polybrominated biphenyl (PBB).

Born and raised in St. Louis, Norm Keon is an accomplished epidemiologist who has dedicated over five decades to advancing public health in Michigan and beyond. His family’s history with the Michigan Chemical Corporation and his experiences growing up along the Pine River shaped his deep commitment to addressing the 1973 PBB contamination disaster. Throughout his career, Norm has been a pivotal advocate for PBB research, serving for many years on the PBB Leadership Team as a representative of the Mid-Michigan District Health Department. He was instrumental in preserving Dr. Alpha Clark’s veterinary records which are now archived at Central Michigan University, ensuring this critical history remains available for future study. Honored with a special tribute from the State of Michigan for his 50 years of service in public health, Norm continues to be a vital voice for citizen involvement in environmental health research.
